Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive body high in sensitivity to light from the visible light wavelength to the laser beam wavelength by forming an electric charge generating layer containing a bisazo pigment specified in formula as an effective component on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer formed on the conductive substrate 11 comprises the charge generating layer 15 and a charge transfer layer 17, and the layer 15 contains at least one of the bisazo pigments 13 represented by formula I in which l is 2-6; n is 1-4; R1 is H or optionally substituted alkyl or aryl; R2 is H when R1 is not H, optionally substituted alkoxy, alkylsulfonyl, alkylmercapto, aryl, acyl, cyano, nitro, amino, or halogen, and each of plural R2 may be same or different when n is 2, 3, or 4; Y2 is H, carboxy, its ester, optionally substituted sulfamoyl or a group of formula II; R3 is H, or optionally substituted alkyl; Y2 is H, hydrocarbon ring group or heterocyclic group or a group of formula II; R4 is a hydrocarbon ring group or heterocyclic group, styryl group or the like; and R5 is H, alkyl, phenyl, or the like.
