Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve durability of the titled electrode tip and line operating efficiency by forming a powder sintered body constituted of the base made of Cu or a Cu alloy and a covered layer >=1 at least of Mo, W and Ti on the tip of the electrode tip. CONSTITUTION:The powder sintered body constituted of base material made of the Cu or Cu alloy such as Cr-Cu and the covered layer 12 to cover >=1 at least of the Mo, W and Ti with a low affinity with Zn on its surface is formed on the tip part of the electrode tip having a hole 3. When the electrode tip is used to perform spot welding, Zn diffusion penetration from a galvanized steel plate 8 can be remarkably restrained. By this method, the Cu of the electrode tip and the Zn from the galvanized plate 8 are prevented from being alloyed. Accordingly, since the chip surface is prevented from peeling off, the durability of the tip and the line operating efficiency are improved.
