Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the partial melting-out of the electrode owing to the evolution of heat at the welding and stabilize the contact resistance with contact material by disposing the noble metal or noble-metal-contained alloy of a melting point higher than that of the contact material to the portion in contact with the contact material of the electrode. CONSTITUTION:The noble metal such as Pt or its alloy of a melting point higher than that of the contact material is deposited by plating or the like on the end face of the electrode composed of Cu-Cr or the like in contact with the contact material. According to the electrode for welding this contact material, the contact material may be welded without staining its contact surface even when the electrode directly touches the contact surface of the contact material at the time of welding the same to a base material. In addition, the oxidation and sulfurization of the electrode do not occur and therefore if the electrical conditions are made constant, the current flowing becomes constant because the contact resistance of the electrode and contact material is held stable, thus the welding strength becomes high and stable.
