Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled yarn suitable as a carbon yarn precursor without occurrence of coherence, by spinning a solution of an acrylic polymer in a coagulating bath, washing the prepared yarn with water, providing the yarn with a silicon oil and successively drawing the yarn in hot water. CONSTITUTION:A solution of an acrylic polymer (a polymer solution obtained by preferably polymerizing acrylonitrile or the acrylonitrile and another vinyl compound monomer in a concentrated solution of zinc chloride having 0.01-5wt.% hydrogen chloride content) is spun in a coagulating bath (preferably a dilute aqueous solution of a solvent used in preparation of a spinning stock solution) and the prepared yarn is washed with water. Then the yarn is provided with a silicone oil (preferably amino modified silicone oil) and successively drawn in hot water to give the aimed yarn.
