Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to execute easy discrimination of a ferromagnetic material remaining in the check of a meter reading machine from a needle by subjecting a button formed by using metals, exclusive of ferromagnetic metals, and synthetic resins as a blank to a surface preparation, then subjecting this button to copper-tin-zinc alloy plating in the case the button is subjected to plating. CONSTITUTION: A pretreatment is necessary in order to apply the electroplating on a non-electric conductor, such as the button 1. The pretreatment forms a chemical copper plating layer 2 after customarily used treating stages, i.e., etching stage, sensitizer stage and activator stage. The outer side of this layer is subjected to bright surface finishing by an electric copper plating layer 3. Next, this electric copper plating layer 3 is subjected to the plating of a copper- tin-zinc alloy at about 0.2 to 5.0 micron plating thickness by adjusting the quantity of electricity and plating time, by which a white nonmagnetic metallic surface is formed. In such a case, the alloy components deposited on the plating layer are preferably 50 to 60% copper, 27 to 33% tin and 10 to 17% zinc.
