Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting transformer which can enhance its leakage impedance when an excess abnormal current flows by disposing a superconductor having a critical magnetic flux density in a range of maximum magnetic flux density or less of a leakage magnetic flux due to an abnormal current and maximum magnetic flux density value or more of a leakage magnetic flux due to a current except the abnormal current in a space between windings having 2 windings. CONSTITUTION:If a trouble, such as a short-circuit occurs in the external circuit of a transformer so that an abnormal current flows in a transformer, when a leakage magnetic flux generated in a space between windings due to the abnormal current exceeds the critical magnetic flux of a superconductor 6, its superconductivity is failed, and the leakage magnetic flux invades into the superconductor 6. Accordingly, the magnetic flux distribution of low and high voltage windings 2A, 3A of this case becomes the maximum magnetic flux density between the low and high voltage windings 2A and 3A, its leakage impedance determined by the distribution is increased, thereby suppressing the increase in the abnormal current. Thus, electromagnetic mechanical force generated at the low and high voltage windings decreases, a reinforcing structure against the electromagnetic force is eliminated at the low and high voltage windings, thereby reducing in size and weight the transformer.
