Abstract
PURPOSE:To generate rotating magnetic field and to improve stirring effect by arranging a first and second coils wound on iron cores at both sides of a mold so that the iron cores are parallel and generating magnetic flux crossing at the right angle to the iron core in the first coil and parallel magnetic flux to the iron core in the second coil. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic field generating mechanisms 3, 4 at both sides of the molds 1, 2 are constituted by the iron core 5 and the first coils 6-9 and the second coils 10, 11 wound on the core 5. Then, at the time of supplying the same phase AC current in the coils 6, 9 and the reverse phase AC current in the coils 7, 8, alternating field phi1 crossing at the right angle to the iron core 5 is generated in the molds 1, 2. At the time of supplying the same phase AC current in the coils 10, 11, the alternating field phi2 paralleling to the iron core 5 is generated in the molds 1, 2. Therefore, the alternating fields phi1, phi2 are mutually crossed at the right angle so as to cross the molds 1, 2. In the case of setting the phase difference between the DC current for supplying to the coils 6, 8 and the DC current for supplying to the coils 10, 11 to 90 deg., the rotating magnetic flux is generated in the molds 1, 2 by the alternating fields phi1, phi2, to stir the molten metal in the molds 1, 2.
