Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the stirring efficiency of molten steel by forming teeth at both ends of iron cores higher than the inside teeth in multi-phase coil for generating two-pole rotating magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:Material 4 to be stirred (molten steel) is charged in a copper- made mold 3 at center part and one pair of iron cores 1a, 1b arranged as facing the teeth-like projecting poles are set. Then, the height (h) of the teeth at both ends of the facing projecting poles of the iron core is set higher than the height of the inside teeth. As the two-pole rotating magnetic field is generated to the iron cores 1a, 1b, by respectively winding the coils of U-phase, -V phase, W phase and -W phase, V phase, -U phase and conducting the current, the magnetic flux is easily passed through the center of the material 4 to be stirred, because the height at both ends of the iron core is high. By this method, the magnetic field strength and stirring thrust in the material 4 to be stirred is increased. Therefore, the stirring efficiency of the molten steel is improved.
