PURPOSE:To execute a correct discriminating action in the amplitude dispersion range of a reproducing FM signal by inputting the reproducing FM signal to an automatic gain adjusting circuit (AGC circuit) and inputting an AGC circuit output whose amplitude is made constant by an AGC action to a signal discriminating device. CONSTITUTION:AGC circuits 2 and 3 changes an amplifier 5 gain automatically so that an output amplitude becomes constant. That is, when an input signal amplitude is small, an amplifier gain becomes large, when the input signal amplitude is large, the amplifier gain becomes small and thus, a constant output amplitude can be held over a wide input signal amplitude range. Consequently, the input signal range is the one in which an AGC output amplitude is more constant compared with the dispersion range of the reproducing FM signal. By setting an AGC input dynamic range large, the input signal amplitude of a signal discriminating device 4 becomes an FM signal which does not get under a dispersion influence and has an almost constant amplitude. By setting this to an amplitude suitable for a signal discrimination, a discrimination false action by the amplitude dispersion of the reproducing FM signal can be prevented.
