Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the lowest sensitivity input level while maintaining input level resolution near the highest sensitivity of a noise squelch, by providing a noise amplifier with an automatic gain control system.
CONSTITUTION: A demodulator output to terminal 1 is supplied to speaker 4 by way of de-emphasis circuit 2, switching circuit 9 and audio amplifier 3. In the demodulator output to terminal 1, high-pass filter 5 detects a noise of a band where no sound signal resides and the detection output is supplied to switching circuit 9 by way of electronic control type attenuator 10, noise amplifier 6, rectifying-smoothing circuit 7, and squelch operation-point adjustment circuit 8 to carry squelch operation out. The attenuation value of electronic control type attenuator 10 is automatically controled by a control signal obtained by passing the output of noise amplifier 6 through rectifying-smoothing circuit 11, so that even if a noise level would vary, the stable squelch operation will be brought to effect.
