Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable only a desired printing wire and a desired rod to resonate selectively by applying a drive signal in nearly the same frequency as the intrinsic number of vibrations of respective combinations of printing wire and rods to a piezoelectric element selectively. CONSTITUTION:Individual combinations of printing wires 21-26 and rods 31-36 have a varying intrinsic number of vibrations by changing their density, shape, material, etc. Subsequently, only a desired printing wire and a desired rod can be caused to resonate by applying a voltage of nearly the same frequency as the intrinsic number of vibrations of the whole system including the desired printing wire and its supporting rod to a piezoelectric element 1 and thereby increasing the vibration. Therefore, for printing, a voltage for the frequency by which the printing wire to be driven based on a printing signal by a control part 7 is applied from a power source 8 to the piezoelectric element 1. As a result, the desired printing wire and rod resonate, which, in turn, shakes the printing wire widely, causing its tip to hit a medium one - several times. Thus dot printing is performed.
