Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable efficient utilization of the heat quantity of stored heat and thereby to improve a defrosting operation performance by a constitution wherein a hydrogen occluding alloy is incorporated in each of first and second auxiliary heat exchangers and also hydrogen is made transferable between the two exchangers. CONSTITUTION: A compressor 1, a first auxiliary heat exchanger 15 installed in a prescribed reference atmosphere, a second auxiliary heat exchanger 18 so installed that it can exchange heat with a main-body housing of the compressor 1 and a third auxiliary heat exchanger 23 which is so installed that it can exchange heat with the second auxiliary heat exchanger 18 and also has ports 24 and 28 for connection of a refrigerant piping through which a reduced pressure refrigerant flows at the time of a defrosting operation, are provided. A hydrogen occluding alloy is incorporated in each of the first and second auxiliary heat exchangers 15 and 18 and hydrogen is made transferable between the two exchangers 15 and 18. By this constitution, the heat quantity of stored heat can be utilized more efficiently by using the hydrogen occluding alloy and, as the result, the performance of the defrosting operation can be further improved.
