Abstract
The heat-exchange system uses a refrigerating medium, having a compressor, a condenser, an expander, and evaporator and if necessary a liquid surve vessel. In order to defrost the evaporator by the hot refrigerating medium in the liquid state, the closed circuit incorporates a collector vessel for the medium between condenser and expander. A tap in parallel with the expander joins the vessel to the evaporator, and there is a stopcock between the evaporator outlet and the compressor. Where a surge vessel is mounted between stopcock and compressor, there can be a valve between condenser and vessel, allowing a selected pressure to be maintained in the condenser.
