Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition having high contrast and quick response, by containing a liquid crystal composition comprising 7 specific kinds of compounds and a mixture comprising 5 specific kinds of dichromatic dyestuffs in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:The objective black composition is produced by compounding (A) a liquid crystal composition containing (i) 30-60(wt.)% of a compound of formula I, (ii) 5-40% of a compound of formula II, (iii) 5-30% of a compound of formula III, (iv) 1-20% of a compound of formula IV, (v) 5-20% of a compound of formula V, (vi) 5-10% of a compound of formula VI and (vii) 1-20% of a compound of formula VII (R<1>, R<4>-R<9>, R<12> and R<13> are 2-8C straight chain alkyl; R<2>, R<3>, R<10> and R<11> are 2-5C straight chain alkyl) as a host liquid crystal with (B) >=9% of a dichromatic dyestuff mixture containing (i) 17-23% of a dyestuff of formula VIII, (ii) 7-10% of a dyestuff of formula IX, (iii) 24-30% of a dyestuff of formula X, (iv) 22-27% of a dyestuff of formula XI and (v) 17-21% of a dyestuff of formula XII (R<14>, R<16>-R<20> are H, alkyl, etc.; R<15> is alkyl, etc.).
