Abstract

PURPOSE:To absorb stepwise the impact force at the time of collision by constituting the shock absorbing part to be provided at the front and rear ends of the frame members of an automobile by two corrugated plates which extends in the same direction as the frame member. CONSTITUTION:Side frames 20A, 20B are formed by a cylindrical body having a rectangular section as a whole. A shock absorbing part 6 is provided at the front or rear end part of the side frames. The shock absorbing part 6 is made up of two corrugated panels 7, 8 which are joined together so as to be opposite to each other in the vertical direction, and is extendedly provided in the same direction as a body frame member 2 on the base side, and the end thereof is joined to the rear surface of a cross-member 3 or 4. The corrugated panels 7, 8 are integrally joined by the projected parts 7b, 7b and 8b, 8b of respective corrugated panels overlapping each other.
