Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure an enclosed cell with no fear of leak occurrence by installing an exhaust valve as opened to one cell element chamber, and forming a gas flow passage to be interconnected to the cell element chamber provided with the exhaust valve from that not provided with an exhaust valve seat between a valve guard plate to be jointed to a battery jar cover and a battery jar cover. CONSTITUTION:A battery jar 1 is partitioned off into three parts by partition walls 2 so that each cell element chamber 3 is formed there. And, a battery jar cover 4 covering the battery jar 1 is opened to only the central one among there chambers and there is provided with an exhaust valve seat 5 doubling as a requisite filler port at the time of manufacturing a cell, and there is also provided with a rubber exhaust valve 6. And, in the battery cover 4, there is provided with a filler port 7 as opened to such one other than the central one among these cell element chambers 3, and furthermore there is provided with a gas flow port 8 as opened to the central one among there chambers 3, while a dike 9 is formed there as surrounding the filler port 7 and the gas flow port 8. Gas generated out of the chamber not provided with the exhaust valve 5 along these chambers 3 enters the chamber provided with the exhaust valve seat 5 by way of the filler port 7, a gas flow passage 11 and the gas flow port 8, from which it passes through the exhaust valve 6, thus it is exhausted to the outside from a gas exhaust clearance 12.
