Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an emulsifying agent industrially and advantageously, by reacting a carboxylic acid with a carbodiimide in a nonpolar solvent to form an acid anhydride and reacting the acid anhydride with pulverized L-alpha-glycerophosphorylcholine in the presence of a base. CONSTITUTION:An acid (e.g. myristic acid) shown by the formula RCOOH (R is 9-21C hydrocarbon) is reacted with N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide in a nonpolar solvent to form an acid anhydride shown by the formula (RCO)2O. Then the acid anhydride is reacted with pulverized L-alpha-glycerophosphorylcholine in a nonpolar solvent in the presence of a basic catalyst (e.g. N,N'-dimethyl-4- aminopyridine) to give the aimed lecithin shown by the formula. The diameter of the fine particles of L-alpha-glycerophosphorylcholine is preferably <=500mu.
