Abstract

PURPOSE:To develop a boiler stock excellent in high-temp. intergranular corrosion resistance and toughness after aging, by using an austenitic stainless steel in which specific amounts of N are incorporated and Ni equivalent is raised as a stock for a boiler for soda recovery used under a severe corrosive environment. CONSTITUTION:Under the highly corrosive environment where temp. is as high as >=400 deg.C and Cl<-> and SO4<2-> exist, an austenitic stainless steel having a composition which contains, by weight, <0.025% C, <0.405 Si, <5.0% Mn, <0.04% P, <0.03% S, 23-30% Cr, 5-18% Ni, and 0.25-0.45 N or further contains one or >=2 kinds among 0.1-3% Mo, 0.05-2% Nb, 0.02-0.5% Ti, 0.2-5% Cu, <0.01% B, <0.05% Ce, and <0.01% Ca and in which Ni equivalent is regulated to >=20% as represented by inequality I is used as a stock for boiler for recovering soda such as NaOH and NaS.
