Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the titled composite material having stabilized lubricity at a high temp. by mixing BN powder as a solid lubricant to cast iron powder, press molding the same and thereafter sintering said powder. CONSTITUTION:BN powder, 4-6wt.%, having the grain size less than that of cast iron powder is added and mixed to the cast iron powder obtd. by grinding slavings, etc., or pure iron powder such as carbonyl iron powder is furthermore added and mixed thereto in such a manner that the mixture is regulated to about <=40wt. in order to improve the sinterbility of the powder at the sintering stage thereafter. Said mixed powder is press molded into the desired shape and is thereafter sintered, for example, at the high temp. of 1,145 deg.C in a hydrogen gas atm., by which BN as a fine solid lubricant is uniformly dispersed into the sintered structure and the self-lubricative composite material having excellent lubricity at a high temp. can be obtd.
