Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable secure inspection by inserting the probe of the ultrasonic thickness gauge into a capillary while supporting it by supports, and rotating the probe by a motor through a universal joint and performing inspection. CONSTITUTION:The probe 3 of the ultrasonic thickness gauge with a contact part 2 for a body to be inspected which form part of the flank of a column having the same diameter with the internal diameter of the capillary, two supports 11 fitted to both ends of the probe 3, a universal joint 5 on the opposite side from a fitting for the probe 3 across a connector (not shown in figure), a cable holder 21 atop it, and a flexible shaft 6 atop the holder are inserted into the thin pipe 1. This shaft 6 is led out of the thin pipe from the middle and the other end part is coupled with a motor 7 installed outside the thin pipe. A cable 8 is coupled with the probe 3 and the cable 8 is led out of the thin pipe along the outside of the flexible shaft 6 and coupled with an ultrasonic thickness gauge main body 9; and the probe 3 is rotated by the rotation of the motor 7 to inspect the inside of the capillary 1.
