Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the defect-locating ability of a defect locating device using the ultrasonic wave by employing a revolving body supplying a contact medium to an object to be inspected in a nuclear power plant or the like.
CONSTITUTION: With the scan by an ultrasonic probe 9 in the direction X, a tire 10 turns in the direction of R. The probe 9 is constantly points to the object 5 to be inspected at a fixed angle, and an ultrasonic beam is applied to the object 5 through the contact medium in the tire 10 and the tire 10. On doing this , a revolving body 14 rotates together with the tire 10, supplying the contact medium for the surface of the tire 10, the contact medium to be supplied by the revolving body 14 through a pipe 16 is led, by capillarity, from the inner surface to the outer surface of the revolving body 14. Therefore, the contact surface between the tire 10 and the object 5 is constantly filled with the contact medium, so that an excellent contact condition can be obtained for the propagation of the ultrasonic wave.
