Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a picture image to a high quality in an image forming apparatus using a photoreceiving sheet and an image receiving sheet coated with photosensitive microcapsules by pressing both sheets under specified pressing conditions. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceiving sheet A is coated with photosensitive microcapsules contg. a photosetting agent and a colorless dye, and an image receiving sheet B is applied by a developing agent. The photoreceiving sheet A is transferred from a cassette 2 to an exposing bed, and a copy image is exposed at an exposure point P. By this exposure, the microcapsules are hardened selectively. Then, the image receiving sheet B is transferred from a cassette 11 and superposed on the photoreceiving sheet A, and both sheets A, B are pressed between pressing rolls 13. In this stage, cleavage of unhardened microcapsules occur, and a color developed image is formed due to transfer of the colorless dye to the image receiving sheet B. In this stage, the pressing conditions are set at >=25kg/cm linear load and 10-180mm/sec passing speed. Thus, color development is improved and a picture image having high quality is obtd.
