Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce an energy cost, by a method wherein, a liquid film of a treatment liquid is formed on the surface of a metal web or sheet and, in this condition, subjected to a chemical treatment and/or an electrochemical treatment while the metal web or sheet is heated. CONSTITUTION:A metal web 1 is guided in a treatment bath 2 by rollers 5, 6, 7. A liquid film 10 of a treatment liquid 3 is formed by the treatment liquid 3 jetted out of a spray device 4 and by the travel of the metal web 1 and chemically treated. For example, an induced current is generated on the metal web 1 by an alternating field generated from induction heaters 8, 9, thus resulting in the heat generation of the metal web 1. In this case, a small quantity of heat radiation from the metal web 1 to the treatment liquid can be realized, and the treatment liquid exists on the metal web in a liquid film state. Therefore, if the liquid film is heated by the heat radiation from the metal web, a small capacity of the liquid film prevents the heat release outside therefrom. Furthermore, only a surface of the metal web 1 to be required to be treated can be treated, which is an advantage from the standpoint of the fatigue of the treatment liquid and an energy cost.
