Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain advanced treated water by treating org. sewage in a biological nitrifying-denitrifying stage, adding Ca<2+> to the resulting slurry of activated sludge and carrying out separation with a membrane. CONSTITUTION:Raw sewage 1 is fed to a biological nitrifying-denitrifying stage 2 and treated. Ca<2+> 3 is added to a slurry of activated sludge flowing out of the stage 2 to produce calcium phosphate. The resulting slurry 4 contg. precipitated calcium phosphate having adsorbed COD components is sent to a membrane separating stage 5, where separation with a membrane is carried out to separate permeated water 6 from a slurry 7. The slurry 7 is recycled as return sludge and a small amt. of Fe<3+> is added to the permeated water 6 to flocculate and separate the residue. Thus, the cost of treatment can be considerably reduced.
