Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a calcium fluoride sintered body, capable of sintering calcium fluoride powders under an industrially available temp. and pressure, and of good translucence and strength by sintering the calcium fluoride powders in a specific ranges of temp. and pressure. CONSTITUTION:A target sintered body is produced by sintering the calcium fluoride powders at 950-1,100 deg.C under 250-2,000kg/cm<2> pressure. The calcium fluoride powders to be used are desired to be of high purity, usually being >=99% purity, in order to increase the translucence of the obtained sintered body. The sintering is carried out after molding the calcium fluoride powders to be a raw material. The temp. and pressure for the sintering are able to be interdependently changed. The sintering pressure can be increased when the sintering temp. is relatively low, and the sintering pressure can be decreased when the sintering temp. is relatively high.
