Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a cooling system requiring no power for a system conducting preliminary cooling at a thermal load generating point by disposing an evaporator at the thermal load generating point in parallel with an evaporator where a natural circulation cycle is formed through a gravitational heat pipe such that they can be switched selectively. CONSTITUTION: When the outer air temperature is lower than the indoor temperature of a room to be air-conditioned, a solenoid valve 11 is opened and cooling operation is conducted simply through natural circulation cycle of an evaporator 3. If the cooling capacity is insufficient for a load, a solenoid valve 12 is switched by an output signal from a liquid level sensor 18 and the level of refrigerant in an evaporator 4 is held at a desired level constantly in order to sustain a specified heat exchange rate. When the condensation pressure rises during operation, a temperature sensor 16 detects the temperature rise and a solenoid valve 13 is opened thus increasing refrigerant supply to the evaporator 4 in the natural circulation cycle. When the outer air temperature is higher than the indoor temperature of the room to be air-conditioned, the solenoid valve 11 is closed and cooling operation is conducted simply through compression refrigeration cycle.
