Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a rust-preventive coating compsn. which is excellent in heat resistance etc., and which comprises an alkali metal silicate and/or a silica sol or an alumina sol, a curing agent and aluminum orthophosphate as a rust- preventive pigment. CONSTITUTION:The rust-preventive coating compsn. of the invention comprises at least one member (A) of an alkali silicate (e.g., sodium silicate) and/or a silica sol or an alumina sol. a curing agent (B) for component (A) (e.g., aluminum dihydrogen tripolyphosphate or aluminum metaphosphate) and aluminum orthophosphate (C) as a rust-preventive pigment. Pref., the component (C) content of the compsn. is in the range of 2-50wt.%. The component (C) is obtd. by mixing phosphoric acid with an aluminum compd. in such proportions that the molar ratio of P2O5 to Al2O3 is about 0.5-2 and baking the mixture at about 300-1,200 deg.C. The component (C) is free from oxidation or deterioration even when heated to about 500 deg.C or above.
