Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a steering mechanism making a front/rear wheel steering ratio changeable by arranging a gear link mechanism at the midway of a connecting shaft of a front/rear wheel steering mechanism wherein an arm body shall be an input shaft, and an internal gear capable of being engaged with said small gear shall be an output shaft. CONSTITUTION:An arm body 38 is connected with an input shaft, which has a small gear 40 capable of being auto-rotated and revolved freely at the midway of a connecting shaft arranged in the longitudinal direction of the body of a vehicle to which each steering mechanism for front and rear wheels consisting of a rack pinion mechanism is connected, a gear link mechanism is arranged wherein the rotating shaft of an internal gear 42 capable of being engaged with the small gear 40 shall be an output shaft, and each of the input and output shafts is connected with a front wheel and a rear wheel steering mechanism respectively. The small gear 40 is supported by both levers 44 and 48 and pivot sections 46 and 50 while being guided at the opposite side of the arm body 38. Owing to this constitution, a front/rear wheel steering ratio may be regulated by changing adequately both the number of teeth of the small gear 40 and the internal gear 42 and the length of the arm body 38, thereby enabling the proper characteristics for front/rear wheel steering to be obtained.
