(Prior Art) Generally, when constructing structures by welding in shipbuilding, architecture, bridges, etc., double-sided welding is often impossible. For this reason or for the purpose of saving labor in the welding process, single-sided welding is widely practiced. In this single-sided welding, a backing material is used to form a uranami beat, but as a simple single-sided welding backing material, a solid backing material made of lightweight short material or a tape backing material made of glass fiber can be used. It is widely used.

The present invention relates to an improvement of a solid backing material in which tile-shaped solid backing materials are continuously arranged in the longitudinal direction and adhered to a tape. Since this backing material has flexibility in the longitudinal direction as a whole, it has the advantage that it can be applied even to curved surfaces to be welded.

As a conventional backing material of this type,
There are those disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 5958 and Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 56-29696, both of which have a bend in the entire groove line and are applied to areas with large curvature.

These backing materials are part of the groove line (the intersection of the horizontal member and the vertical member) of a member that has a bend, such as a member that is a composite of a horizontal member and a vertical member such as T-shaped and L-shaped steel. It cannot be applied to grooves with small curvature, and the backing material used for such places is a backing material formed into a curved surface to match the small curvature of the part. .

However, such a backing material with a fixed curvature can only be used for grooves that match the curvature of the backing material, and many types of backing materials must be prepared to match the curvature of the groove. It was definitely inconvenient.

(Purpose of the invention) The present invention solves the drawbacks of the prior art, and has a simple structure that allows flexible opening according to the groove curvature at the intersection of a composite member consisting of a horizontal member and a vertical member. It is an object of the present invention to provide a backing material for single-sided welding, in which the curvature of the surface that comes into contact first changes and can sufficiently cope with changes in the curvature of the intersecting portion.

Reference numeral 1 designates a backing block such as a ceramic heat-resistant tile constituting the backing material 10, which has a recessed portion for receiving slag in the direction of the central groove line on its surface (the surface in contact with the groove). 2 is a flexible heat-resistant material, for example A, for attaching the backing block to the back surface of the groove of the material to be welded.
This is a tape for attaching a backing material made of foil, and is configured to be wider than the backing block 1. The tape 2 is coated with adhesive on one side, backing blocks 1 are continuously lined up and pasted in the direction of the central groove line, and peeling tape 3 is pasted on both ends to be peeled off when using the backing material. . As shown in the figure, the peeling tape is preferably attached to the tape 2 so that a portion thereof protrudes, thereby making it easier to peel off.

As shown in FIG. 1b, the backing block 1 of the backing material has a fan-shaped side cross section, the circular arc surface 4 on the outer periphery is in contact with the back surface of the groove, and the bottom part 5 in the center is attached to the tape 2. . In this pasting state, as shown in the figure, the bottom portions 5 of each block 1 are pasted at predetermined intervals.

That is, by attaching the bottom portions 5 of each block to the tape 5 at predetermined intervals in this way, play is provided, and this play changes the curvature of the outer periphery of the backing material in accordance with the curvature of the groove of the material to be welded. This makes it possible to fully fit the back side of the groove,
A backing material can be attached.

The curvature of b is slightly larger than that of a, but in either case, the backing material is in good contact with the back surface of the groove.

In this case, since three of the four blocks 1 of the backing material 10 cover the intersection groove,
The remaining one is used as a backing material for the horizontal member 6-1. Of course, since one block is not used as a backing material for the intersection groove, it may be removed from the tape 2.

Similarly, in Figure b, 7 is a composite member consisting of a horizontal member 7-1 and a vertical member 7-2, 9 and 9-1 are backing materials for members 7-1 and 7-2, respectively, and the composite member is The backing material 10 of the present invention is applied to the groove at the intersection 7.

In the above specific example, as the heat-resistant backing block constituting the backing material, a fan-shaped block with a cross-sectional shape of about 30 degrees is used, and four of these are used as the backing material mounting tape, so that the distance between the bottoms of the blocks is approximately the same. Although the blocks are pasted so as to have the width at the bottom, the present invention is not limited to this, and it is clear that the angle, number, interval between the blocks, etc. of the blocks can be changed as appropriate depending on the manner of use.

In any case, by reducing the angle of the blocks and increasing the distance between the block bottoms, the degree of adaptation to changes in the curvature of the groove becomes greater.

(Effect of the invention) As described above, if the backing material for single-sided welding of the present invention is used, the curvature of the surface in contact with the groove of the backing material can be adjusted to match the curvature of the intersection of the composite member that is the material to be welded. It is possible to attach the backing material by sufficiently fitting it to the back surface of the groove, and as a result, the slag retention function becomes good and an excellent uranami bead can be obtained. Moreover, since it has a simple structure, it is easy to process. The present invention can be said to be optimal as a backing material to be applied to the intersections of composite members.
