(Prior art and its problems) When building structures by welding in shipbuilding, architecture, bridges, etc., it is often impossible to weld both sides.
For this reason or to save time in the welding process, single-sided welding is widely practiced. A backing material is used in this single-sided welding to form an underwave bead, and a lightweight, short solid backing material is often used as a simple single-sided welding backing material.

However, when attaching the conventional backing material for single-sided welding, it is difficult to accurately align it to the proper position on the back side of the groove of the welded material, and it may come off, especially if the groove is curved. If welding was carried out under such conditions, molten slag would flow down, and a good Uranami beat could not be expected.

(Means/effects for solving the problem) The gist of the present invention to achieve this purpose is to form a linear or dot-like concave or convex portion in the longitudinal direction at the center in the width direction using a mold at least on the lower surface. This backing material for single-sided welding is made by continuously arranging a plurality of integrally molded short tile-like solid materials and pasting a tape for attaching the backing material to the lower surface. The present invention will be explained below using specific examples shown in the drawings.

FIG. 1a is an overall upper perspective view of a specific example of the present invention;
FIG. 2b is a perspective view of the entire lower side, and FIG. 2 is a diagram showing the state in which it is used. 1 is a short solid ceramic heat-resistant tile having a rectangular cross section, and a slag pocket is provided in the longitudinal direction of the center of the upper surface (the surface in contact with the groove). Reference numeral 2 denotes a backing material attachment tape made of a flexible heat-resistant material, such as A foil, for attaching the solid material 1 to the back surface of the groove of the material to be welded, and is configured to be wider than the solid material 1.

The tape 2 is coated with an adhesive on one side, and a plurality of short solid materials 1 (six pieces in FIG. 1) are successively pasted in the longitudinal direction of the center of the coated surface, and backing materials are attached to both ends in the longitudinal direction. A peeling tape 3 is attached that is removed when in use.

Note that if too much adhesive (mainly organic) is applied to the backing material mounting tape, it will thermally decompose during welding (700 to 800°C on the back side of the solid material), producing H 2 , Since gases such as CO and N 2 are generated and defects such as bits and blowholes occur in the welded part, it is preferable to keep the thickness of the adhesive layer to 100 μm or less.

When A foil is used as the mounting tape, the thicker the better from the viewpoint of heat dissipation effect, and the thickness should be at least as thick as the adhesive. For example, A foil thickness:
90μm, adhesive layer thickness: 50μm.

In the backing material of the present invention, a linear convex portion is further formed in the widthwise center of the lower surface of each solid material 1 (the surface on the backing material mounting tape 2 side) and in the longitudinal direction (direction along the groove). 4, and a point-like recess 5 is formed at the center of the upper surface of the solid material 1 in the width direction, and the protrusion 4 and the recess 5
The solid materials 1 are arranged so that they are in a straight line.

Therefore, on the upper side of this backing material, the dotted recesses of each solid material are arranged at predetermined intervals (Fig. 1a),
On the lower side, the linear convex portion 4 of the tape 2 for attaching the backing material
(This protrusion 4' is formed by the protrusion 4 on the lower surface of the solid material 1) appears (FIG. 1b).

In the figure, 6 indicates a ventilation hole for heat dissipation. If necessary, wires, strings, etc. can be passed through the hole 6 to integrate each fixed type 1, and after welding is completed, the backing material can be attached to the welded material. When removing from 8, solid material 1 is attached to mounting tape 2.
This is convenient because it prevents the objects from falling off and becoming scattered.

When using the backing material of this invention,
As shown in FIG. 2, the lower convex line or the upper concave part of the backing material may be applied to the back surface of the groove 7,
The alignment work of the backing material can be performed accurately and easily. 8 indicates the material to be welded.

In the above specific example, a linear convex part is formed on the lower surface of the solid material, and a dotted concave part is formed on the upper surface of the solid material. The decision will be made as appropriate. In short, such recesses or protrusions may be formed at least on the lower surface of the solid material.

Furthermore, the backing material of the present invention has the advantage of being extremely easy to manufacture. That is, if the recesses and projections are formed in the mold for molding the solid material, there is no need to provide a separate work process for forming the desired recesses and projections of the solid material simultaneously with the molding of the solid material.

Also, when attaching a solid material to the backing material mounting tape such as A-foil, if you press the part of the tape that corresponds to the concave or convex parts of the solid material, that part will be plastically deformed and the backing material will be easily attached. There is no problem because recesses or protrusions can be formed in the tape for attaching the material.
