Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reproducibility with a low-concn. sample and to enable the decision of whether a prozone or not with a high-concn. sample. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed volume of the sample is added and mixed to and with a specified volume of a reaction reagent in a 1st sample dispensing position S1 and after the 1st optical density corresponding to the component to be detected in the sample is measured, the same sample additionally dispensed to the liquid mixture in the 2nd sample dispensing position S2 at the time of measuring one component to be detected in the sample 1. The same component to be detected is thereby added and introduced into the liquid mixture and reacts with the residual reagent in the liquid mixture, thus changing the optical density. This optical density is measured as the 2nd optical density. The concn. of the component to be detected based on the 1st optical density and the concn. of the same component to be detected based on the 2nd optical density are then calculated and either value is selected as a correct value in accordance with the magnitude of these calculated values. The reproducibility is thereby improved with the low-concn. sample and the prozone or not is decided with the high-concn. sample.
