Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve brazing characteristic, strength after brazing, and castability, by using an Al alloy containing specific amounts of Si, Cr, and Ti for parts made of Al casting in an intake manifold to which respective parts consisting of Al expanded material and Al casting is brazed. CONSTITUTION:By using an alloy consisting of, by weight, 2-5% Si, 0.2-0.5% Cr, 0.1-0.3% Ti, and the balance Al, a casting in which a main pipe 1 in an intake manifold is integrated with a flange 3 for attaching a throttle body is cast. Further, branch pipes 2 made, e.g., of JIS-A-6063 alloy are prepared, and the above casting is brazed with the branch pipes 2 in a furnace at 595-600 deg.C by using an Al-alloy brazing filler metal containing 12% Si. The resulting parts has superior brazing characteristic and high strength after brazing. Moreover, the above casting alloy has superior castability as well.
