Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable wire electrodes to be automatically selectively exchanged by mounting and automatically supplying a plurality of wire electrodes with a plurality of wire bobbin mounting means and wire feeding means and attaching removably the wire feeding means to a lift means.

CONSTITUTION: When a wire electrodes 1b, 1a are exchanged with each other, a guide rail 41 of a wire feeding means 8b is first lifted by a lift means 12 to positions of guide rails 40a, 40b of an apparatus body 22 to cut off the wire electrode 1b with a cutting means 42, while moving wire feeding means 8b, 8a respectively on the guide rails 40b, 41 by the expansible operation of removably attaching means 43b, 43a. Next, a wire feeding means 8a is lowered by the lift means 12 and a guide pipe 46a is inserted between upper and lower wire guide means 48, 54 opened by cylinders 52, 58 to feed the wire electrode 1a by a pinch roller 9 and a roller 9, hold said electrode 1a with a wire recovering means 30 and give tension to said electrode with a tension generating means 4a. Thus, the wire electrode can be selectively and automatically exchanged.
