Abstract
PURPOSE:To inexpensively obtain a light guide having a low transmission loss by pressing a die formed with a rugged pattern to the softened surface of a 1st optical element material and forming the 2nd optical element material having the refractive index higher than the refractive index of the 1st optical element material onto this surface. CONSTITUTION:Hollow grooves corresponding to the desired light guide patterns are first forward on the softened surface of the 1st optical element material. The 2nd optical element material 2 is formed on the surface of the 1st optical element material having such hollow grooves and the 2nd optical element material except the material formed in the hollow grooves is removed. The parts consisting of the 2nd optical element material corresponding to the desired light guide pattern are thus formed on the surface of the 1st optical element material. The 2nd optical element material 2 has the refractive index higher than the refractive index of the 1st optical element material. The light guides 10 in which the 2nd optical element material 2 in the hollow grooves functions as the core part and the 1st optical element material 1 and air layer enclosing the 2nd optical element material function as the clad part are thus produced. The inexpensive production of the light guide having the low transmission loss of light is thus enabled.
