CONSTITUTION:Optical fiber cable 3 which has been passed through a shape retaining agent prepd. previously by dissolving powder of polyvinyl butyral, etc., in an appropriate solvent and drying thereafter, is wound on an external periphery of a tapered core 1 having successively reduced diameter toward a veering side 1a. Thus, a layer 2 of the wound optical fiber cable is formed by the adhesion of the cable 3 to each other when the cable is wound around the core body 1. By using such optical fiber spool, transmission of signals through an optical fiber cable only is possible in an unmanned submersible system.
