Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of a focusing lens, to make the device miniature and light in weight, and to reduce the cost by constituting the end face of a substrate which a light beam emitted and deflected from an optical waveguide passes through, of a lens surface. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with the output of an image signal S, a semiconductor laser 18 is controlled by a driving circuit 20, a voltage whose frequency is varied continuously is applied to an IDT 15 from a driving circuit 17, and an elastic wave 12 is advanced. A beam 13 which advances through an optical waveguide 11 on a transparent substrate 16 is deflected by the elastic wave 12 for crossing said beam, diffracted by a linear diffracting grating 21, focused by the lens surface of a substrate end face 16a, and a spot P scans on a photosensitive body 23 and records image information. Accordingly, since an aberration of a light beam 13B caused by the deflection is corrected by the lens surface of the end face, it becomes unnecessary to provide a focusing lens between an optical waveguide element 10 and the photosensitive body 23, the device can be made miniature and light in weight, and the cost can be reduced.
