Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform the welding with a low electric current without sticking of a nugget to an electrode by forming a projection on one plate and superposing the plate on the other plate and holding the periphery of a projection part between upper and lower annular hollow electrodes to apply an electric current to it while pressing. CONSTITUTION:The plate 3 on which the projection 5 is provided is superposed on the lower plate 4 with the projection 5 abutted thereon and the periphery of the projection 5 part is held between the hollow electrodes 1 and 2 from the upper and lower parts and pressed and electrified. An electric current (i) flows so as to concentrate toward the projection 5 from the hollow electrode 1 and afterward, flows dispersively radially toward the other hollow electrode 2. By this electrification, the Joule heat is generated on the projection part which is made to the high temperature and the projection welding is performed thereon. At this time, the current density is low and a temperature rise is low and the nugget is not generated on parts where the electrodes 1 and 2 are brought into contact with the plates 3 and 4 respectively and a nugget generated on the projection 5 part is formed to a projecting part in a recessed part 9 and solidified in a slightly protuberant state.
