Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the coating process, to remarkably improve the finishing appearance of a coated film, to save resources, and to prevent public nuisance by applying the cationic electrodeposition paint for forming a double-layered film consisting of an epoxy-based cationic electrodeposition resin and a nonionic coated-film forming resin, heating and curing the paint, and then forming two layers of a top coat on the electrodeposition surface. CONSTITUTION:The following cationic electrodeposition paint (C) for forming a double-layered film is firstly electrodeposited. Namely, the paint (C) contains (A) an epoxy-based cationic electrodeposition resin having 40-60dyne/cm surface tension and capable of forming an aq. bath to be electrodeposited on a cathode by the neutralization with an acid and (B) a nonionic coated-film forming resin having 25-45dyne/cm surface tension in the ratio A/B=60/40-98/2, and the surface tension of (A) is set higher than that of (B). After the electrodeposition surface is then heated and cured, (a) the water-based or org. solvent-based paint contg. a dye is applied as a first top coat, and (b) a powder paint not contg. a colorant is applied as a second top coat.
