Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent electrostatic offset and hot offset by providing a release layer dispersed with a conductive material to the surface of a fixing roller and previously subjecting the conductive material to a surface treatment with a low surface energy material. CONSTITUTION:The release layer 5 of the fixing roller 1 provided with the release layer 5 on the surface is dispersed with the conductive material which is previously subjected to the surface treatment with the low surface energy material. A representative example of the low surface energy material used for the surface treatment of the conductive material is carbon fluoride. After the conductive material is subjected to the surface treatment with such low surface energy material, the conductive material is dispersed into the fluoroplastic or silicone rubber used for the release layer 5 and is used for the release layer 5. The conductive material is exemplified by carbon black, metal powder (stainless steel, Ni, Cu, Fe, Al, Cr, Co, etc.) borides, carbides, nitrides, oxides, silicides, etc. The electrostatic offset and hot offset are thereby prevented and the longer life is obtd.
