Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive the improvement of the echo suppressing effect without increasing the tap number of an adaptive FIR digital filter by suppressing echo tail by the IIR digital filter whose coefficient is set in advance. CONSTITUTION:Each tap coefficient in a coefficient register 14 of the IIR digital filter 16 is preset so as to have a characteristic approcimating the average characteristic of an echo generated by various subscriber lines. The transmission signal inputted from an input terminal 1 is subjected to operation by a feedback convolution operation section 11 using each tap coefficient and a feedback convolution operation section 13 and the result is outputted as a pseudo echo 17 and a subtractor 8 subtracts a pseudo echo 17 from the reception signal. Moreover, the adaptive type FIR digital filter 7 is operated to cancel the difference between the echo included in the reception signal and the pseudo echo 17. Thus, the echo suppressing performance is improved without increasing the tap number of the adaptive FIR digital filter.
