Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent stray light and background light from other part than that of the angle of field from being introduced, and obtain an infrared ray detector of high performance, by making up a constitution wherein an end-surface light shielding member to regulate the incidence of the stray light is bonded to the side-surface of an infrared ray transmitting substrate, in the constitution of a cold shield regulating the angle of field of the infrared rays to be introduced into the detector. CONSTITUTION:A cold shield for infrared ray dector is provided with an infrared ray transmitting substrate 11 composed of ZnS, at the bottom of which an infrared ray shielding film 13 is formed. This film is composed of Al, and provided with an aperture 12 corresponding with a light receiving region 8. An end-surface shielding member 16 composed of covar has a slit-type aperture 14 on the upper surface, and carbon particles are spread on the surface 15 to blacken it. This member 16 is bonded to the side surface 11A and the upper surface 11C of the substrate 11, by using adhesive agent or the like. For the blackening treatment, it is recommended that carbon particle is spread on the surface of a light shielding body by thermally decomposing acetone. By bonding the end-surface shielding member 16 to the substrate 11 with the adhesive agent, stray light which might be introduced into a light receiving region from the substrate side-surface is avoided, and the background light except the background light regulated by the angle of field is not introduced. Thereby, an infrared ray detector of high performance can be obtained.
