Abstract

PURPOSE:To use a catalyst effectively and to obtain produced gas decomposed to a desired state inexpensively by separating a heatreceiving body to plural layers in the direction of gas stream and regulating an equivalent pore size or void of the heat receiving body at a heat radiating body side to a different value from that at a side separated from the heat radiating body. CONSTITUTION:A porous heat receiving body 4 deposited with a catalyst is separated into plural layers of heat receiving body 4a, 4b, 4c in a direction from an upstream side to a downstream side of a gas stream. The pore size of each heat receiving body 4a, 4b, 4c is arranged to be smallest in the heat receiving body 4a, somewhat larger in the heat receiving body 4b, and largest in the heat receiving body 4c, thus, the radiation absorbing capacity of the heat receiving body 4a is made larger than those of the heat receiving body 4b, 4c. As a result, the amt. of heat to be absorbed by the heat receiving body is increased at an inlet of feed gas 8, and the temp. of the heat receiving body 4a at the inlet of the feed gas 8 is elevated, so heating capacity for the feed gas 8 improved. By this constitution, the catalyst deposited to the heat receiving body 4 at the inlet of the feed gas 8 is used effectively, and produced gas decomposed to a desired state is obtd. inexpensively.
