Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain rapid reading without extending a complementary common data line and increasing the area of a chip by using a writing complementary common data line also for reading operation. CONSTITUTION:When a specified complementary data line is connected to reading complementary common data lines CDr and the inverse of CDr, the succeeding column address is simultaneously allocated and another pair of complementary data lines are connected to writing complementary common data lines CDw and the inverse of CDw. Namely, the common data lines CDw and the inverse of CDw are used also for reading operation. Thereby, a reading unit can be increased to twice the number of bits without extending the complementary common data line. Consequently, a multi-bit output type semiconductor storage device speeding up the reading operation can be obtained without increasing the area of the chip.
