Abstract
PURPOSE:To wide the selection range of an image receiving sheet to a large extent and to obtain a sharp high grade color image at a high speed at low cost, by successively providing an intermediate layer containing a photolytic compound, a photothermal converting layer and a thermal transfer solid ink layer to the single surface of a light pervious support. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer 9 containing a photolytic compound is provided to the single surface of a light pervious support 10 and a photothermal converting layer 3 is laminated thereto so as to be adjacent to the intermediate layer 9 and, further, a thermal transfer solid ink layer 4 is laminated to said layer 3. The intermediate layer 9 is formed in such a state that the photolytic compound is dissolved or dispersed in a binder and the pref. binder is at least one kind of a group selected from thermoplastic resins, waxes and rubbers. The photolytic compound is a diazo compound and an azide compound rapidly and photolytically decomposed by light containing ultraviolet rays, visible light and infrared rays. Light energy is allowed to irradiate the back surface of the transfer recording medium on the basis of image data and the thermal transfer solid ink layer 4 is selectively heated and melted to be transferred to an image receiving sheet 5 which is released and separated to obtain a transfer recording image on the sheet 5.
