Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of the measurement of particulates by superposing plural components whose internal surfaces are painted in black and forming a V-shaped groove, and reflecting repeatedly and attenuating laser light which enters the V-shaped groove. CONSTITUTION:The components 14A and 14B whose internal surfaces are painted in glossy black are placed on over the other and a spherical lens 12C and an optical fiber 12B are sandwiched to constitute a cell. Further, optical fibers 13A-13D for scattered light detection, a nozzle 11B where sample water 11A flows, etc., are fitted. Then the V groove having, for example, a 30 deg. vertical angle is formed and the light which enters the V groove from a laser 62A through the fiber 12B is reflected by the internal surface about six times until it exits from the V groove. Then scattered light generated by particulates in the water 11A is made incident on the end surfaces of the fibers 13A-13D and guided to a photodetector 65B, etc., and a subtracter 65A removes components depending upon the laser light intensity, so that a part depending upon the size and refractive index of the particulates is outputted.
