Abstract

PURPOSE:To extend the service life of a disk and to reduce a power consumption by providing the function automatically stopping the spindle motor for rotating a disk at the time when non-operation state reaches a fixed time on the timer circuit provided inside a control circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a CPU 1 gains access to a floppy driving controller 6, a turned-ON selective signal is reset to a timer circuit 12 and with the access completion, the reset is released and unless a signal 13 is turned ON until the number of counts becomes of a set number an interruption signal 14 into the CPU 1 is turned ON. The CPU 1 starts an interruption processing by receiving it, turning OFF a motor-ON signal 11 via a parallel interface PIO 7 and stopping the spindle motor inside a floppy disk drive 10. The efficiency reduction of a software is eliminated, the service life of a floppy disk is extended and power consumption is reduced.
