Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately correct the level of a digital picture signal, by reading the image information of a reference reflecting plate by a one-dimensional image sensor at a timing just before reading the image information on an original. CONSTITUTION:Before the original 11 arrives in the neighborhood of a photosensor 13, the reflected light of the reference reflecting plate 12 is reflected on a mirror 16 by lamps 14-1 and 14-2, and is image-formed on a line sensor 8 via a lens 17. In the sensor 8, the light-and-shade information of the reflecting plate 12 is read in a line unit by the one-dimensional image sensor, and is converted to an analog picture signal. A picture signal 25 in which the analog signal is A/D-converted is supplied to the input side of a first arithmetic circuit 19, and the arithmetic operation of a correction coefficient that is the inverse number of the signal 25 is performed. In other words, the correction coefficient that is the inverse number for the level value of the signal 25 is calculated, and by multiplying it, the level of the signal 25 can be corrected. The correction coefficient is stored in a storage means 21 as an output signal 26.
