In this type of power unit swing mechanism, the front part on the engine side is pivotally connected to the vehicle body, and the rear part is pivotally connected to the vehicle body via a rear suspension unit, so that vibrations caused by engine operation are transmitted to the vehicle body. The road reaction force generated by the rear vehicle due to the bumps in the road acts on the power unit as a tensile force, which is transmitted to the vehicle body and impedes ride comfort.

The present inventors have devised the present invention in order to solve the above-mentioned problems with power unit suspension systems for motorcycles. The center line of the pivot part and the center line of the rear action unit connecting the rear part of the power unit and the vehicle body are made parallel or in a direction that converges toward the road surface, and the links, rear action unit, and power unit are tilted forward. A power unit suspension system for a motorcycle is designed to form a pseudo-parallelogram in the form of a pseudo-parallelogram, thereby suppressing the transmission of engine vibration to the vehicle body, improving the ability of the power unit and wheels to follow the road surface, and improving riding comfort. It is on offer.

Projections 9a, 9a having widthwise holes 9b are provided hanging down on the left and right sides of the lower front part of the crankcase 9, and the holes 9b of the respective projections 9a, 9a are provided with inner and outer rings 21a, 21.
A rubber bushing 21 on which an elastic body, for example, rubber is baked, is fitted to b via the outer ring 21b, and a collar 24 is horizontally suspended between the upper front parts of the side plates 14, 14 of the link 13, and the inner ring of the rubber bushings 21, 21 A bolt forming the upper horizontal shaft 22 is inserted between 21a, and the horizontal shaft 22 is connected to the collar 24 between the side plates 14, 14.
, and tighten with nut 23 from one protrusion side. In this way, the link 13 and the front lower surface of the power unit are pivotally connected, and the upper and lower pivot parts of the link 13, that is, the upper and lower support shafts 22 and 19 that swingably support the power unit and the vehicle body, are such that the upper side faces forward. , the bottom is deflected backward and the center line N 2 connecting them is tilted forward upward. The center line N2 is tilted backwards and faces the road surface G at an angle, and the important thing is that the center line of link 13
N 2 is set to be approximately parallel to the center line N 1 of the reaction unit 12 described above, and to be oriented parallel to or less than parallel to the road surface, that is, to converge on a virtual extension line in the direction of the road surface.

In the above, the front part of the power unit 7 is assembled so as to cover the link 13 on the lower surface, and the power unit 7 side is attached to the horizontal shaft 22 at the upper front part to absorb the load of the power unit, the load reaction force from the road surface, and the rear action unit. The reaction force acts, and the link 13 rotates in the vertical direction around the horizontal axis 19 at the lower rear.
This is converted into a rotational moment in the vertical direction, compressing and deforming the rubber bushing 18 in the circumferential direction to support and absorb the rotational force. Therefore, a preload is applied to the rubber bush 18 in advance in the opposite direction, that is, in the clockwise direction in FIG. The longitudinal movement of the power unit 7 that follows the road surface is smoothly moved by the pseudo-parallelogram link consisting of the link 13 and the reaction unit 12, and follows changes in the road surface. When braking the rear wheels 11, the power unit 7 follows the braking of the rear wheels in the longitudinal direction through the vertical swing of the link, and the entire power unit 7 swings in the vertical direction. There is no so-called flapping, and stability during braking is improved.
Followability improves.

To deal with engine vibrations, by setting the direction of the crank's main excitation force in the front-rear direction as shown by the arrow in FIG.
Rotate the rubber bushing 18 around the support shaft 19.
Rubber bushing 18 absorbs and damps vibrations.
Because it utilizes compressive deformation in the circumferential direction, that is, torsional deformation, unlike using general compressive deformation in the radial direction, even if a hard rubber bushing with a relatively high spring rate is used, it has a vibration absorption effect and A followability effect can be obtained, and the vibration absorption and damping effects can be improved while improving the life and durability of the rubber bushing. Also, the advantage of setting the direction of the main excitation force of the engine in the longitudinal direction is that the weight of the power unit, rear wheels, and tires can be used effectively, and the tires are not subject to any ground load. The front and rear parts are soft and can therefore be used as cushioning rubber with a low spring rate. The front and rear vibrations of the power unit 7 are suppressed by the rubber bushings of the front links, and at the rear, tires are used as cushioning rubbers to reduce vibrations between the links and the engine. It is possible to significantly reduce the vibration level even under conditions where the main excitation force is not perpendicular to the main excitation force, and the above configuration also produces such secondary effects, and in addition to the above, it improves followability and reduces the vibration of the vehicle body. A highly effective transmission deterrent effect can be obtained.

Of course, if the direction of the link 13 and the main excitation force of the engine are made perpendicular to each other, the vibration absorption and damping effect will be further improved, but the disadvantage is that the vibration reduction effect decreases rapidly when the angle is more than ±10° from the perpendicular angle, as with the normal link type. does not occur in the present invention.

In addition, 25 in Figure 2 is the stopper rubber, and rubber 2
Reference numeral 5 is interposed between the link 13 and the lower surface of the front part of the power unit, and the vibration in the direction of the main excitation force of the engine is supported by both the compression 25a and the extension 25b, thereby further improving the vibration absorption and damping effect. As is clear from FIG. 3, since the rear action unit 12 is supported by a cantilever on the left side, it is provided under the left side of the power unit 7 which has high rigidity.

As is clear from the above, according to the present invention, links,
The rear action unit is tilted forward and a quasi-parallelogram link including the power unit is formed, which improves the ability to follow the longitudinal movement of the power unit that supports the rear wheel. Because it supports the load in the rotational direction, vibrations during driving and engine vibration are effectively suppressed.Furthermore, even the tires can be used as cushion rubber, and the elastic material is made of a hard material to achieve the above effect. It has many advantages such as being able to improve lifespan and durability.
