-1554 electronic printing devices, etc. This is done by forming a powder image on a photoconductive plate and fusing or fixing it to form a non-photosensitive insulating image figure, that is, a printing master, on the photoconductive plate by an electrostatographic method, and then This printing master is uniformly charged and then uniformly irradiated with light. The charge is thereby retained only on the non-photosensitive image areas and discharged on the photosensitive areas, so that a charged powder is deposited on the partially charged plate to form a powder image and the powder image is This is a method of transferring the image onto a suitable image support, and the above steps are repeated.

Electrostatic printing of a large number of sheets using the printing master described above is performed in the following manner. A printing master having a toner image on photosensitive paper is charged by a charger 4, and further exposed uniformly over the entire surface by a uniform exposure lamp 13. The charge on the uniformly charged photosensitive paper 10 is drained by uniform exposure leaving only the toner image portions that are insensitive and non-photoconductive. Therefore, a printing master is formed in which only the toner image portion has an electric charge, and is visualized by the developing device 5. Next, the transfer paper 11 is sent to the transfer section in synchronization with the rotation of the rotary drum 1, and the toner image on the print master is transferred to the transfer paper by the transfer corotron 6, and then becomes a fixed image by the fixing device 9. , and are guided to the paper output tray to obtain copies.

However, since such electrostatic printing machines produce a large number of copies, a large amount of used toner accumulates in the cleaning device that removes residual toner from the printing master, and the used toner is discarded. Maintenance and inspection such as removal will be required. In addition, among other conventional techniques, there is a method to solve this problem by providing a cleaning function to the developing machine, thereby eliminating the need for a dedicated cleaning device. When using such a conventional cleaning/developing device, the rotating drum is rotated twice in order to take one copy, and developing and cleaning are performed alternately.
Alternatively, the bias voltage applied to the developing device has been changed between developing and cleaning.

However, this method has disadvantages in that it requires a complicated apparatus and is not suitable for high-speed copying because only one copy can be obtained in two revolutions.

An object of the present invention is to provide a developing device having the effect of cleaning residual toner on a printing master,
1 revolution without the need for special cleaning equipment
The purpose is to provide a printing device that can obtain copies, and its configuration is to form a printing master by fixing a toner image on a photoconductive plate, charge the printing master, uniformly expose it to light, and develop it. In electrostatic printing, which involves transferring a toner image on a printing master obtained by a process, a developing machine equipped with multiple developing rolls is used, and the toner content of the first developing roll is compared with that of the other developing rolls. By using a lower amount of toner than the toner content, residual toner from the previous printing cycle can be mainly removed in the first roll, and development can be performed with new toner in the other rolls.

In the first printing cycle, charging, uniform exposure,
There is a residual toner image on the print master that has been developed and transferred. This residual toner image is charged to the same polarity as the electrostatic image of the print master by the transfer corotron and second rotation charging process, and as a result, the adhesion of the residual toner to the print master is weakened.

In the development in the second printing cycle, although two developing rolls are shown in the figure, the toner content in the developer carried by the first developing roll 15 on the entrance side among the plurality of developing rolls. the other roll 16
The residual toner whose adhesion on the print master has been weakened by reducing the adhesion compared to that of 1 is scraped off by the first roll 15, and at the same time, a slightly new toner adheres to the electrostatic image. Next, the other developing roll 16 develops the toner to the normal density using as new toner as possible, transfers it to transfer paper, and then fixes it.

In the present invention, as a method for reducing the toner content of the developer carried by the first developing roll 15, the developer on the first developing roll 15 is transferred to the regulating member 1.
8 to adjust the amount of developer to be uniform, then the first developing roll 15 is brought into contact with the toner pick-up roll 19 to which a bias is applied, and the toner is transferred onto the pick-up roll. Toner content in the developer on the developing roll 15 is reduced. The toner adhering to the toner pick-up roll 19 is removed by a scraper 20.

As described below, the present invention eliminates the need for a dedicated cleaning device by providing the first developing roll that carries a developer with a reduced toner content compared to the other developing rolls. 1
