2,5 F z → TaF sIn this conventional method, a metal is first produced and then reacted with a halogen gas to produce a halide.Since expensive tantalum metal is used as a starting material, the cost is low. It has the drawbacks of being bulky and having a low yield. Furthermore, in order to improve the purity, an electron beam must be used, making the manufacturing method energy-intensive.

Then, as in the conventional method, there is a step of separating impurities using solvent extraction technology to create crystals of KzTaf'y, then a step of using this to create tantalum metal using metallic Na, and a step of producing tantalum. This method overcomes the disadvantages of a long process and a decrease in yield, as it consists of a step of producing a tantalum halide by reacting tantalum metal as a raw material with halogen gas at high temperatures.

A trace amount of one or more metal impurity ions such as , Ca, V, Li, Tb, etc. is also extracted, and if these extracted amounts are unacceptable, a cleaning step (B) is performed to selectively clean these metal impurities. After the impurity metal ions are transferred to the aqueous phase with water or NH, the organic solvent is introduced into the tantalum back extraction step (C), where water or NH and HF are introduced.
Alternatively, the tantalum fluoride complex is transferred from the organic phase to the aqueous phase by contacting with an aqueous solution (b) containing + and KF, and the organic solvent is regenerated and recycled to the tantalum extraction step (A) again. The first step of the method of the present invention consists of the above steps.

By distilling, the organic solvent (B) can be regenerated and tantalum halides (H) such as tantalum chloride complexes and tantalum fluoride complexes can be produced. Here, if Nb and other metal impurities exist at an unacceptable concentration in the organic solvent (B) that extracts and contains tantalum, the above-mentioned cleaning step (B) is introduced as appropriate after the extraction step (F). Then, it can be sent to a heating/evaporation or heating/distillation step (G). The above steps constitute the third step of the method of the present invention.
